About Us

We didn't set out to build a network. We set out to help one distressed cat.

Each of us started the same way — a sick kitten found on the road, a frantic search for someone who knew what to do, a sleepless night hoping she'd make it. And somewhere in that experience, something shifted.

We couldn't look away anymore.

Today, we are over 40 volunteers scattered across Bangalore — in apartments and houses, near busy roads and quiet lanes — each of us carrying a particular set of skills we've learned the hard way. Bottle feeding. Post-surgical care. Emergency fostering. Knowing which vet to call at midnight. Knowing how to comfort a cat who has never been held before.

We are not a shelter. We are the people who step in before a shelter is even possible — when a kitten is hours old and has no mother, when a cat is hit by a car and needs someone to stay through the night, when an animal is too fragile, too frightened, or too sick for anywhere else.

If you're one of those people, you already belong here.

As a volunteer network we are able to provide intensive, personalized care to each animal in distress.
We have zero overheads ( no shelter, no staff costs etc) and since each animal gets the specific attention they need, mortality/infection rates are low.
Finally, in a safe home foster environment, these animals flourish and this helps us find the perfect home for them based on their personality.

Bangalore Cat Squad exists to protect the most vulnerable cats and kittens in our community — the ones without a safe place to call home, without anyone looking out for them.

We take in stray, injured, and orphaned cats and kittens, care for them through our self-funded volunteer network, and find each one a loving home. To date, BCS has successfully rehomed  thousands of cats & kittens every year — with the best care, support, and follow-up at every step of the journey.

We also tackle the root cause. Through spaying and neutering camps, community awareness programs, and wherever possible, policy change, we work to address feral cat overpopulation so that fewer animals face crisis in the first place.

Shelters are overwhelmed — and they are the last safe haven for animals who cannot be rehabilitated. Part of our mission is to support that system by ensuring that healthy animals who deserve a second chance never have to end up there.

"We believe citizen involvement is the only sustainable way of creating lasting impact in the animal welfare ecosystem — in India and beyond."

Glimpses of our work

Bangalore Cat Squad is proudly incubated by the Samarpan Foundation. Their stewardship allows us to ensure that every contribution entrusted to us is directed entirely toward the rescue, treatment, and welfare of animals in need.
